Read these short excerpts from Wise Before Their Time, and write a 1-2 page response essay discussing two or more of these stories.
1. Some of the people interviewed are not from the United States, but endure the same unfair treatment.
2. Women DO get HIV, but due to lack of research, nobody knew how to treat them. This isn’t discussed in these excerpts, but it’s something to contemplate.
3. Opportunistic infections kill AIDS patients. You may want to look up the drug trial names and terms such as CMV as it pertains to AIDS. Did you know about the opportunistic infections? The drug trials?
4. Are any of these stories surprising?
