Description
For your final writing assignment, write a 1500 word essay analyzing and discussing the issue you have been researching from the start of your Annotated Bibliography. This paper should be in Times New Roman 12 pt. font using MLA style/format. Also include a Works Cited page with at least 5-7 sources on your issue.
Keep in mind your 5 Analytical Moves and the 5 Stasis Questions posted on this page below.
Also, make sure you address all 5 Points of View from your Audience members in the previous assignment. You are not addressing or speaking to the 5 audience members you created, just anticipating their questions, concerns, oppositions, etc., and discussing those in your paper. DO NOT use 1st person in this paper. DO NOT use the term “In this paper, I will…” You do not have to directly announce what you’re going to say, just say it. There are 3 GOLDEN RULES of essay writing:
1) Introductory paragraph: Make a clear claim and suggest how you will prove that claim.
2) Body Paragraphs: Prove your claim through facts, statistics, numbers, dates, expert opinions, etc., but stick to FACTS. Your opinions do not count. NO BIAS!
3) Conclusion: Remind the audience of your claim in the Intro and briefly recap how you just proved your claim. Also, suggest a viable solution to the issue that everyone from the Audience your created can agree to. DO NOT write, “I think…” or “My suggestion is…” Instead write something like, “One possible solution…” You, as the writer, must remain invisible. The only evidence of the writer is a solid argument or analysis that works without you having to explain it to your audience.
Remember to be unbiased in your reporting of the facts about your issue. DO NOT SLANT THE FACTS. If you make one claim supporting one side, balance it with a claim from the other side. And as all good experts, you should support your thesis with the expert opinions of others. This is NOT an opinion paper. Your opinion is only relevant in the viable solution/policy you will offer toward the end of the paper, but it cannot be slanted toward one end of the spectrum or the other. The key is BALANCE.
MY ISSUE IS MEDICINAL MARIJUANA, THE MANY POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE EFFECTS ON THE BODY THROUGH TREATMENT OF VARIOUS DISEASES AND CONDITIONS.
I HAVE INCLUDED THE RUBRIC, MY SOURCES AND RESEARCH (PLEASE ADD SOURCES OF YOUR OWN AS WELL), AS WELL AS MY AUDIENCE MEMBERS WHO’S POINT OF VIEW YOU WILL ADDRESS. WHEN IN DOUBT JUST FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS ABOVE, THIS ESSAY IS VERY STANDARD AND IS NOT VERY DIFFICULT.
